Cook E. Jarr

This Las Vegas lounge singer is the most famous performer of his caliber, receiving recognition as the No. 1 lounge act time and time again. It’s not every day you hear someone cover all your favorite funky hits.

He covers songs from both yesterday and today, from OutKast and Usher to Steppenwolf and Kool and the Gang. But the act remains much the same – booming, booty-shaking music.

The Cookster hypes up the crowd with his dog barks, imitation engine-revving (which comes in handy during his “Born to Be Wild” number) and other trademark sound effects. Be warned – if he sees you just sitting there, prepare yourself to get your groove on.

You’re also in for a treat: Jarr is constantly learning rap songs and it makes his long-lived Vegas show all the more entertaining.

Cook E. Jarr is no stranger to Vegas, performing as a lounge act since the late ‘70s with his band, The Krums. Decades later, the Cookster is still cooking on the Strip at The Piano Bar inside Harrah’s Las Vegas. You can catch him performing Tuesdays, 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. and Wednesdays, 4 p.m. – 6 p.m.

The funnyman also has two CDs: “Almost Green,” a play-off on Al Green and “Old School New School,” featuring entertaining covers like “The Humpty Dance,” “Hey Ya,” “What A Wonderful World,” “Great Balls Of Fire,” “My Prerogative,” “Hot in Here” and much more.
